Even without Ricardo Villalobos’ remix on the flipside of this single, NDF’s “Since We Last Met” would sound like a Kompakt release. That’s not to say, of course, that DFA have become merchants of German minimal techno.  But NDF’s brand new single does sound conspicuously Teutonic with its barely-there flute and crisp handclaps and mesmerizing beat seemingly made of bells and glass.  As a break-up song, it’s a surprisingly light affair.  There’s no hand-wringing, no insomnia, no angry recriminations.  This is a song about the moment in the distant future when the loss doesn’t quite sting anymore, when any sense of obligation to your former partner has completely evaporated.

Pick up the 12” single from DFA; the b-side features a 17 minute (!) remix by Ricardo Villalobos.
